Check what an item actually sells for before you buy it, and price listings to move instead of sit. One GET request per answer.
A comp, short for comparable sale, is a recent real sale of the same item in similar condition. Sourcing decisions live or die on them: the thrift store price tag tells you nothing, the active listings tell you what has not sold, and only completed sales tell you what the market pays. /v1/comps turns that lookup into one call: a cleaned median, the spread and the newest matching sales, with parts, lots, bundles and wrong models removed before the math runs.

The gap between the 25th and 75th percentile is your pricing room. List at the top of the range in season, at the median to move fast, and walk away from buys where the spread cannot cover fees and shipping. Every row also carries shipping_cost, so landed price math is one addition.
When a sale closes as an accepted Best Offer, the public sold page keeps showing the asking price. If you price from those numbers you buy high and list high in exactly the categories where buyers negotiate. With best_offer=1 the price field is the real closed amount, flagged per row, so your comps reflect what buyers actually paid.
Pass condition=used, new, open box, refurbished or parts and the comps only include sales in that condition. Minus words clean out accessories: dr martens 1460 -kids -junior prices the adult boot, not the junior line.
With up to 1,095 days of history per search, you can see that golf clubs peak in spring and consoles spike in December before committing a basement of inventory to the wrong month. A 90 day window, which is all the public sold page and most comps tools show, hides every one of those curves. More in market research.
