That line through the price means the seller accepted a Best Offer. The number you can see is the asking price. The number the buyer paid is hidden, and you can look it up below.
Two free searches a day, no account needed. Results are real completed eBay sales.
On a sold listing, a struck through price with Best Offer Accepted beneath it tells you two things. The item sold, and it did not sell at that price. The seller took an offer, and eBay does not publish how much it was for.
So the price you can read is the most the item could have sold for, not what it did sell for. If you price your own listing from those numbers, you price high.
We matched 5,859 accepted Best Offer sales against their asking price. The buyer paid less than the crossed out price on 99.0% of them. The median gap was 14.9%, and on one sale in ten the asking price overstated what was paid by more than 40%. It varies by category: sneakers ran 20.0% at the median, jewellery 17.6%, designer handbags 17.5%. Every category is in the full study.
If you sell on eBay, the research tools in Seller Hub show the accepted amount for completed sales. If you are a buyer, or you want it without logging in, search the item above. Rows marked yes in the Best Offer column are negotiated sales, and the price on them is what the buyer paid.
For the full history of an item rather than one search, the Best Offer price checker sorts negotiated sales to the top.
Why is the sold price crossed out on eBay? A crossed out price with Best Offer Accepted under it means the seller accepted an offer below the asking price. eBay keeps showing the asking price, struck through, and does not show the amount the buyer actually paid.
How do I see the actual price of a Best Offer sale? eBay does not show it on the public listing. Sellers can see it in their own Seller Hub research tools. The free checker on this page shows the accepted amount for completed sales of any item, two searches a day with no account.
How much lower than the crossed out price do Best Offers close? Across 5,859 accepted Best Offer sales we measured, the buyer paid less than the crossed out asking price 99.0% of the time, with a median gap of 14.9%. On one sale in ten, the asking price overstated what the buyer paid by more than 40%.
