Every way to get eBay sold data, compared

Six options for programmatic eBay sold listings, measured on history depth, Best Offer accuracy and cost per 1,000 calls. Figures from public pricing pages, October 2026.

eBay retired findCompletedItems and closed the Marketplace Insights API to new applicants, so everyone who needs sold listings data now picks between third party APIs, scrapers and manual research. This page compares the realistic options.

CompsAPI

One GET request against api.compsapi.com/v1/sold returns up to 240 completed sales as JSON, with up to 1,095 days of history per search and the price a Best Offer sale actually closed at, not the asking price shown on the public sold page. Condition, format, minus word and trading card filters are built in, and /v1/comps returns a cleaned median and spread in one call. Plans run from a free tier of 100 requests a month to $499 for 1,000,000, which works out to $0.50 per 1,000 calls at the top plan. eBay US is the primary marketplace, with matching sales from other eBay sites merged in.

SoldComps

SoldComps returns up to 240 completed sales per call across 8 eBay sites, with up to 90 days of history per search. Prices on Best Offer sales are the asking price from the public sold page. The top listed plan is $79 a month for 50,000 requests at 60 requests a minute, or $1.58 per 1,000 calls, with custom pricing above that. A fair choice when 90 days is enough and the asking price approximation does not matter for your category. See the full CompsAPI vs SoldComps comparison.

CompSniper

CompSniper also returns up to 240 sold listings per request with up to 90 days of history on every plan, across 8 eBay sites. Responses carry a Best Offer flag but the listed output does not state the real accepted amount. Listed plans run from free for 100 requests to $549 a month for 500,000, or $1.10 per 1,000 calls, with sales contact above that. At the $79 and $129 price points CompsAPI includes 100,000 requests where CompSniper includes 50,000 and 100,000. See the full CompsAPI vs CompSniper comparison.

Apify scrapers

Several Apify actors scrape the public eBay sold search. They bill per result row rather than per search, typically from about $2.50 per 1,000 rows, so a 240 row search costs more than a request on any API above. They inherit the public page's limits: 90 days of history, asking prices on Best Offer sales, and breakage when the page changes. Useful for one off pulls inside an existing Apify workflow.

eBay's own APIs

The two official routes are closed for most teams. findCompletedItems, the Finding API call developers used for sold listings, is retired. The Marketplace Insights API returns 90 days of sold data but is a limited release restricted to approved eBay partners, and new applications are routinely declined.

Manual sold search

The public sold filter on eBay works for spot checks: 60 results per page, 90 days back, asking prices on Best Offer sales, and a login wall when you query it too hard. It does not scale past a handful of lookups a day and there is no export.

How to choose

If you need more than 90 days of history, the real closed price on Best Offer sales, or clean per request pricing at volume, use CompsAPI. If your category rarely trades on offers and 90 days is enough, SoldComps and CompSniper both work and cost about two to three times more per 1,000 calls at their top listed plans. If you only need a few hundred rows once, a scraper or the public page is fine.
