eBay switched off the Finding API call developers used for sold and completed listings. Here is the same workflow as one GET request, with more history and real Best Offer prices.
findCompletedItems was the Finding API call that returned sold and completed listings for a keyword. eBay deprecated it, then switched it off, and the Finding API as a whole followed. The official successor for sold data, the Marketplace Insights API, is a limited release restricted to approved partners, which leaves most teams with no official route to sold listings.

The response is plain JSON: ok, count, items[] and a next_page flag. No XML, no app ID provisioning, no compatibility level headers. A free key arrives by email the same day, no eBay developer account and no approval process.
findCompletedItems returned at most 90 days of history and 100 rows per page, and it showed the asking price on Best Offer sales. CompsAPI returns up to 1,095 days, 240 rows per page, and the price an offer actually closed at, flagged per row with best_offer. For pre priced answers, /v1/comps returns a cleaned median and spread for the query in one call.
CompsAPI is keyword search with filters rather than category tree browsing, so a categoryId query becomes a keyword plus minus words. Sort is newest first. eBay US is the primary marketplace, with matching sales from other eBay sites merged in.
