Terapeak, now Product Research in Seller Hub, answers pricing questions in a browser tab. CompsAPI answers the same questions in JSON, from one GET request.
Terapeak is eBay's own sold data research tool. eBay retired the brand name in 2024 and the tool now lives as Product Research inside Seller Hub, with up to three years of completed sales behind its charts; the deeper Sourcing Insights reports are tied to eBay Store subscriptions. For pricing an item by hand it is genuinely good, and it is the benchmark this page measures against.
It stops at the browser. There is no Terapeak API, research results have no built in export, sellers report daily caps on research queries, and every lookup happens as a signed in eBay seller clicking through a dashboard. The moment sold data needs to reach a spreadsheet, a repricer, a collection tracker or your own product, Terapeak has no door to knock on.

Terapeak details from eBay's public pages and seller community reports, October 2026. Terapeak is a trademark of eBay Inc; CompsAPI is not affiliated with eBay.
Every workflow Terapeak supports by hand becomes a loop with an API: reprice a store nightly against real closed prices, refresh a collection tracker, score a buylist, fill a spreadsheet column with medians, or let an AI agent pull comps mid conversation. One GET request returns up to 240 completed sales as JSON, with condition, format and minus word filters, and /v1/comps collapses a query to a cleaned median and spread in one call.
curl -G https://api.compsapi.com/v1/sold \

--data-urlencode "days=1095" \
--data-urlencode "best_offer=1"
Terapeak aggregates sold data into charts you read. CompsAPI returns the rows themselves: title, price, last_sold to the minute, format, shipping_cost, item_id and url per sale, with time based paging and no duplicates between pages. On accepted Best Offer sales the price field is the amount the sale actually closed at, flagged per row with best_offer, which the public sold page never shows. With days=1095 the same request shape builds seasonality charts, depreciation curves and launch analysis from real sales.
The most asked Terapeak question in eBay's seller community is some form of "how do I export this", and the honest answer is that research results do not export. With an API the question disappears: the response is already data. Pipe it to a CSV with one line of jq, load it into a dataframe, or store the rows and own your history from today forward.
If you price a handful of items a day by hand and never need the numbers outside Seller Hub, Terapeak costs nothing extra and sits where you already work. Stay with it. The gap is not the data, it is the delivery: eBay does not offer research data over an API at any price, so when software needs sold prices, a third party API is the route.
